Machu Picchu

My husband and I did the 4 day Inca trek up to Machu Picchu. We finally reached the sun gate about 7am and then got down to the city of Machu Picchu at 8am. I’m so glad that we were lucky enough to get good weather while visiting this wonder! We went here during the rainy season in March, and this was my only concern the entire time. If you don’t want to hike here, there is a combination of train and bus that you can opt for. The train leaves from Cusco and takes you to Agua CalientesĀ and then you switch to a bus for a 20 minute ride that will take you through switch backs up the mountain.

Agua Calientes was a really unique place, it almost made me feel like I was in Nepal. Its a small town surrounded by steep tall mountains and a roaring river that seriously looks like it would kill you if you went for a swim. There are plenty of places to pick up some souvenirs, get some great food, get a massage, or find some wifi.
